GCC Secretary-General Welcomes US Announcement to Remove Syria from State Sponsors of Terrorism List
Riyadh, July 10, 2026, SPA – His Excellency Mr. Jassim Mohamed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), welcomed the announcement by the United States of America to initiate procedures to remove the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. He expressed his hope that this step would contribute to supporting international and regional efforts aimed at enhancing security and stability in Syria. He also expressed hope that this step would serve as an incentive to strengthen international cooperation with Syria, supporting its efforts to regain its regional and international standing, and pushing towards achieving its security, development, and prosperity.
