In a tragic scene reflecting the scale of the catastrophe that befell Venezuela, the earth continues to reveal its painful secrets after the two violent earthquakes that struck the country on June 24 last, with a difference not exceeding 39 seconds and magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, turning towering residential complexes into rubble in the blink of an eye. With search operations continuing amid the rubble, the President of the Venezuelan National Assembly, Jorge Rodriguez, announced via the Telegram app that the death toll has risen to a staggering 4,490, after the previous toll stood at 4,333. The number of injured has exceeded 16,740, while rescue teams race against time, supported by exceptional local and international efforts; some 31,837 emergency personnel, more than 30,000 volunteers, and 2,422 foreign rescuers are participating.

Despite the harshness of the scene and fading hopes as authorities list thousands of people as missing, a glimmer of light emerged in the success of teams until the day before yesterday (Saturday) in rescuing 6,462 survivors from under the rubble, as the humanitarian saga continues in northern Venezuela searching for new life amid the destruction.
