The United Arab Emirates expressed deep concern over the developments witnessed in the region over the past few days, and called for an immediate halt to escalation and for refraining from any steps that could exacerbate tensions and instability in the region.

In an official statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for the utmost restraint to avoid serious repercussions and to prevent the region from sliding into new levels of violence and instability.

It also called for an immediate cessation of all hostilities and a prompt return to the negotiating table, stressing the importance of ensuring the freedom, safety, and continuity of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz as vital to the global economy.

The UAE Foreign Ministry affirmed that targeting civilian infrastructure and civilian facilities in the region, including schools, universities, hospitals, desalination plants, energy facilities, transport centers, and residential areas, constitutes a flagrant and grave violation of the established principles and provisions of international law, and cannot be accepted or justified under any circumstances.
