US President Donald Trump on Monday threatened Iran with a 'multiplied price' if any American soldier is killed, while simultaneously assuring Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he will not be arrested during his upcoming visit to the United States.

Trump emphasized that Netanyahu would not be subject to any arrest during the United Nations General Assembly in New York, after the city's mayor said he was studying the possibility.

New York Mayor Zahran Mamdani had acknowledged that he was not confident he had the authority to order police to detain a foreign leader, but noted that he was consulting with his legal team on the possibility of taking such a step during the General Assembly in September.

Trump said in a post on his social media platform Truth Social: 'Benjamin Netanyahu will not be arrested, in any way, during his stay in the United States.'

The International Criminal Court, based in The Hague, announced in 2024 that it had reasonable grounds to believe that Netanyahu was responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity, in the context of the Israeli attack on Gaza following the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.

Mamdani said in an interview with The New York Times published Saturday: 'I think Prime Minister Netanyahu’s place is The Hague; he is a war criminal indicted by the International Criminal Court.'

Netanyahu’s office condemned Mamdani’s remarks in a statement, describing the International Criminal Court as a 'phony court with no jurisdiction over Americans or Israelis.'

On a separate note, Trump said on his platform Truth Social: 'Every time Iran kills an American soldier, it will pay a multiplied price for it.'

Trump’s remarks came after Washington announced in recent days that a number of US military personnel had been killed in combat, in addition to another soldier missing.

He added that he had issued direct instructions to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Daniel Kain, and senior military commanders to implement this directive.
