Daniel Siad, the French model scout accused of luring women for American businessman Jeffrey Epstein, was found dead inside his home in the town of Colombes west of Paris, according to the Nanterre public prosecutor's office.

The prosecutor's office said it opened an investigation to determine the cause of death, noting that an autopsy will be conducted as part of the inquiry.

Siad faced multiple complaints, including rape accusations, and was under investigation in Paris on suspicions of human trafficking linked to the Epstein case, but he denied all charges.

His lawyer said her client was looking forward to the opportunity to defend himself in court, considering that he died before he could present his version of events, and added that the psychological pressure he experienced may have contributed to his death if it is confirmed to have been caused by a heart attack.

The Paris public prosecutor's office announced the dropping of the case against him after his death, while maintaining the broader investigation into suspicions of human trafficking linked to Epstein.

Siad's name appeared in more than a thousand documents from Epstein's files that were unsealed, and correspondence was attributed to him in which he compared luring women to 'hunting' operations.

This comes four years after French model agent Jean-Luc Brunel, also accused of recruiting women for Epstein, was found dead in his cell in 2022, while Epstein himself died in prison in 2019 before his trial on sex trafficking charges.
