Death toll from landslide in northwest China rises to 21
The death toll from a landslide in Gansu Province, northwest China, has risen to 21, after 33 people were buried the previous day, state media reported on Wednesday. The Xinhua News Agency said rescue teams rushed to the site of the landslide, which occurred around 6:56 a.m. yesterday in Rencang Village, under Dangchang County. The agency quoted local authorities as saying, "Search and rescue operations at the landslide site in Dangchang County have concluded, and the incident resulted in 21 deaths."
