Despite Recent Developments, Trump Says Agreement with Iran Still Possible
US President Donald Trump affirmed that the possibility of reaching an agreement with Iran to end the conflict remains viable, despite recent US strikes and the reimposition of a blockade on Iranian ports.
These statements come amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran over Iran's nuclear program and the US military presence in the Gulf region.
Trump told reporters in the Oval Office: "I think an agreement is possible. We reached an agreement with them two days ago, then they said we cannot conclude this agreement; we must continue negotiations on it."
New round of attacks
US forces announced on Monday a new round of attacks against Iran, marking the third consecutive night the region has been subjected to US strikes.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement on X platform that "these strikes will continue to inflict heavy losses on Iranian forces and weaken their ability to attack innocent civilians and commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz," noting that the strikes began at 16:45 (20:45 GMT).
Trump's remarks reflect a contrast in the US position between military escalation and diplomatic openness, raising questions about the seriousness of the negotiation path. Military pressure is expected to continue unless it achieves its goals of weakening Iranian capabilities. Observers believe that the naval blockade and airstrikes may push Tehran to negotiate, but they could also lead to further complication of the crisis.
