Drone strikes hit oil facilities in southern Russia
Drone attacks targeted oil facilities in southern Russia today, sparking a fire at an oil refinery in the Krasnodar region, according to authorities who reported destroying 376 Ukrainian drones overnight.
The Krasnodar region operations command said on Telegram, "A fire broke out at the Ilsky refinery following the fall of drone debris," noting no injuries or fatalities.
Yury Slyusar, the governor of the Rostov region in southern Russia, reported that a fire broke out at two fuel storage facilities in Azov following air strikes.
These latest attacks on oil facilities come at a time when the country faces fuel supply difficulties, particularly in the neighboring Crimean Peninsula.
Meanwhile, Russian forces destroyed 376 Ukrainian drones between 8 p.m. local time on Thursday and 7 a.m. on Friday, according to the Russian Defense Ministry via the Max messaging app.
Russia continues to launch daily attacks on Ukraine since its full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
On the other side, the Ukrainian army regularly carries out drone attacks on Russia, primarily targeting energy infrastructure that enables Moscow to fund its war effort.
