Germany/International Women's Day/Report Berlin, March 7 /WAM/ A report in Germany revealed that the number of women in Germany is higher than the number of men.

The report, distributed by the Federal Statistical Office on the occasion of International Women's Day, which falls on March 8 each year, indicated that the number of females reached about 43 million by the end of last year out of a total of about 81 million population of Germany, a percentage of up to 52 percent.

The report showed that the proportion of foreign women reached 48 percent of the total number of foreigners, which amounts to about 7 million 300 thousand foreigners.

The report clarified that the proportion of female labor force in Germany reached 44 percent by the end of last year out of a total of about 39 million 489 thousand workers in the country.

Regarding the scientific development of women in Germany, the office pointed out that the proportion of females in schools and universities is higher than men, as the percentage of those who obtained a high school diploma reached 56 percent, while the percentage of males reached 44 percent.

The report showed that the proportion of studies in institutes and universities among women reached 54 percent, while the proportion of males reached only 51 percent.
