(CNN)-- The US military announced on Monday launching new strikes on Iran for the ninth consecutive night, indicating that these strikes will continue with the aim of undermining Iran's military capabilities, according to a statement by the US Central Command (CENTCOM).

The statement said: 'For the ninth consecutive night, the US Central Command began a new wave of airstrikes against Iran at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time.'

The statement continued: 'These strikes will continue to undermine Iranian military capabilities that Iran uses to attack commercial ships and civilian sailors while transiting the Strait of Hormuz.'

This came after the Kuwaiti army announced on Monday that the country was subjected to attacks by Iranian drones, noting that air defenses were engaging them.

The Bahraini Ministry of Interior also announced sounding sirens and calling on citizens and residents to head to the nearest safe place, amid continuous escalation between the United States and Iran.

The Bahrain Defense Force announced on Sunday that it intercepted and destroyed several Iranian air attacks, confirming that all its 'weapons and units are at the highest level of readiness.'

The General Command of the Bahrain Defense Force said that the kingdom's air defense systems 'confronted, intercepted, and destroyed a number of treacherous Iranian air attacks.'

Iran has long targeted what it says are US military bases or presence in regional countries such as Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan.
