Iranian media reported on Sunday that the United States launched two attacks overnight on the cities of Sirik and Hajiabad in Hormozgan province, southern Iran, while the Iranian army announced targeting facilities used by US forces in Kuwait.

Iran's Fars news agency reported that a US attack targeted a point near the city of Sirik after midnight last night.

Sirik is located in Hormozgan province overlooking the Strait of Hormuz, and has previously been subjected to several US attacks in recent days, according to Fars.

For its part, Iran's Tasnim news agency reported that the United States launched a military attack last night near the city of Hajiabad in the same province.

The agency stated that no civilian casualties or damage to residential and commercial infrastructure were recorded as a result of the attack.

In response, the Iranian army announced targeting the Al-Adiri camp and Ali Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait with suicide drones.

The army said in a statement that the attacks targeted two facilities used by US forces in Kuwait, as part of what it described as the '16th wave of operations' in response to US attacks.

It added that suicide drones targeted a US Army ammunition depot inside the Al-Adiri camp.

It also noted targeting Patriot air defense systems and an air radar at Ali Al-Salem Air Base with intensive attacks.

Earlier on Sunday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the completion of an eighth wave of attacks on Iran, saying it targeted Iranian military facilities, defense capabilities, and naval assets.

For days, the United States has been launching successive waves of strikes on sites inside Iran, while Tehran has been attacking what it says are US ships, facilities, and military bases in several countries in the region.

This comes despite Washington and Tehran signing a memorandum of understanding on June 18, 2026, which included a cessation of military operations and the start of negotiations to reach a broader agreement.

However, US President Donald Trump announced on July 8 of this month the end of the interim agreement, after Iran targeted three ships in the Strait of Hormuz, prompting Washington to resume its strikes inside Iran, amid escalating responses from Tehran in the region.

Washington demands ensuring freedom and security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, while Tehran insists on imposing a mechanism to regulate the passage of ships through the strategic waterway, which has exacerbated fears of disruption to oil and gas exports from the region.
