Iran's state television reported that a fuel ship belonging to the country successfully breached the measures taken by the United States in international waters, reaching the Sea of Oman.

These developments come amid ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran over the security of navigation in the region's vital waterways.

The state broadcaster stated early Thursday evening that the ship was making its way towards the Strait of Hormuz after passing through international waters and reaching the Sea of Oman.

It added: "An Iranian tanker entered the Sea of Oman minutes ago, ignoring the alleged blockade imposed by the United States in international waters."

The head of the US administration, Donald Trump, had revealed on July 13 that the US naval blockade against Tehran would be resumed within the Strait of Hormuz corridor.

Trump's announcement came after Iran targeted three commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, as Tehran insists on imposing a mechanism to regulate the passage of ships through the strategic corridor, while Washington demands what it claims is ensuring freedom of navigation in the strait.

The escalation has disrupted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, threatened aviation and energy supplies, amid intermittent closures of airspace and warnings of targeting US facilities and interests outside the Middle East.
