Iran's permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, said that Iran will not fulfill its commitments under the memorandum of understanding signed in Islamabad if the United States continues to violate its obligations under this memorandum.

According to Tasnim International News Agency, Iravani added that 'Tehran is committed to implementing this memorandum, provided that the United States also fully and sincerely fulfills its commitments.'

The Iranian ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations in New York described the US attacks targeting Iranian islands and southern cities on July 7 and 8, 2026, as 'a blatant violation of the UN Charter.'

In a related context, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi earlier in the past hours sent a message via the 'X' platform reminding America that commitment to pledges is mutual and bilateral.

The Iranian foreign minister's remarks came in response to the new action taken by the US Treasury Department imposing new sanctions on Iran, which constitutes a breach of Article 9 of the memorandum of understanding signed in Islamabad. In addition to the US military attacks that violate several articles, including Article 1 of the memorandum, and also, days earlier, explicitly violated Article 10 of this memorandum by revoking the license for the sale of Iranian oil.
