Ramallah - Qais Abu Samra (Anadolu)

These raids come as part of an ongoing Israeli military campaign in the West Bank since the outbreak of the war in Gaza.

The Israeli army launched a campaign of raids and incursions in several areas of the occupied West Bank at dawn on Friday, detaining a number of Palestinians, including a freed prisoner who was preparing to celebrate his wedding.

Local sources told Anadolu Agency that Israeli forces, reinforced with numerous military vehicles, entered the city of Tubas, with infantry units spreading through its neighborhoods, then raided and searched homes.

The sources indicated that army forces carried out acts of vandalism inside Palestinian homes before withdrawing before dawn, with no arrests reported.

In Nablus, Israeli forces detained former prisoner Anas Akif Eshtiya at his home in the village of Salem, east of Nablus.

Witnesses explained that Eshtiya's wedding ceremony was scheduled for today.

In occupied Jerusalem, Israeli forces stormed the Qalandia refugee camp north of the city, carrying out a campaign of raids and house searches that included the arrest of a number of Palestinians, according to local sources.

Since October 2023, Israeli army raids in the West Bank have escalated, with its operations and settler attacks resulting in the deaths of 1,182 Palestinians and the arrest of about 24,000, according to official Palestinian data.

Palestinian statistics indicate that more than 1,100 Palestinians have been killed and more than 23,000 arrested in the West Bank since the start of the war, while Israel continues its operations in Gaza. The arrest of a freed prisoner on the eve of his wedding reflects the intensity of the security campaign and its impact on daily life. These arrests are likely to lead to further tension in the West Bank, especially with the continuation of nightly raids and deliberate vandalism of homes.
