Landslides triggered by monsoon rains in eastern Bangladesh have killed at least eight Rohingya refugees, including five children. Dolat Tripura, an official from the Fire Service and Civil Defense department in Cox's Bazar, said rescue workers recovered seven bodies, while refugees found the eighth after several hills collapsed between last Sunday and Monday morning. Officials explained that continued rainfall and flooding caused soil erosion on slopes, leading to the collapse of temporary shelters.

The meteorological department in the capital Dhaka has forecast more rain in the coming days. It is noted that more than one million refugees from Myanmar live in camps in Bangladesh.
