Lebanon: Partial collapse of damaged building in southern suburb and Israeli explosions in south

On Sunday, part of a building damaged by recent Israeli strikes on the southern suburb of the Lebanese capital Beirut collapsed, while the Israeli army carried out demolition operations in two towns in the south of the country.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that a section of a building in the Mashrafieh area of the southern suburb collapsed at dawn on Sunday, cutting off the road.

It stated that the building had been previously damaged by Israeli strikes.

Local media reported that civil defense teams rushed to the scene and secured the building's perimeter, preventing approach to the rubble for fear of additional collapses, while no reports of casualties were received.

On June 14, 2026, three people were killed and 16 others wounded in an Israeli strike targeting a residential apartment in the Beirut suburb.

In southern Lebanon, the agency reported that the Israeli army carried out demolition operations at dawn on Sunday in the towns of Khiam and Deir Siryan in the Marjayoun district, without further details.

The Israeli army continued its attacks on Saturday on various areas in southern Lebanon through airstrikes, artillery shelling, demolition operations, and dropping sound bombs, resulting in injuries.

Israeli attacks on Lebanon continue despite the conclusion, under U.S. auspices, of a 'framework agreement' between the two sides on June 26, 2026, regarding a gradual Israeli withdrawal from areas in southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that the death toll from Israeli attacks has risen to 4,328 killed and 12,227 wounded since March 2, 2026.
