Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said his country will deport any Israeli citizen caught within its borders, attributing this to Malaysia's non-recognition of Israel.

According to the local newspaper Malay Mail on Wednesday, Anwar explained that all security agencies are conducting a thorough investigation into claims that Israeli citizens are present in Malaysia.

He added: "We are conducting an investigation, and we will not allow that," noting that "if Israeli citizens are found in the country, they will be deported immediately, because we do not recognize Israel."

Anwar's remarks came after media reports surfaced about Israeli citizens being spotted in Johor state, using documents proving they hold dual nationality.
