The US House of Representatives on Wednesday passed a $95 billion budget framework, with most funds allocated to the Pentagon to finance the war against Iran.

The framework was passed by a narrow margin (216 votes to 214) and will be sent to the Senate, where it is unclear whether it will be approved.

The proposed budget bill represents the last major legislative move by Republicans before the midterm elections scheduled for November, whose results will determine whether they retain their majority in Congress, and thus will determine the course of the remainder of Trump's second term. Also on Wednesday, the House passed the annual defense policy bill authorizing a record budget of $1.15 trillion for the Pentagon.
