The Wall Street Journal reported, citing US officials, that the United States has reinforced its military presence in the Middle East by deploying additional troops, medical personnel, and weapons, giving President Donald Trump broader options to deal with Iran.

The officials said Washington deployed special operations forces, bolstered fighter jet squadrons, and increased the readiness of bombers stationed at US and British bases.

A US official added that more than 150 military medics arrived in recent days at the US Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany, as part of ongoing preparations.

According to the newspaper, these reinforcements could also give the US administration greater capability to conduct operations against the Houthi group in Yemen, amid escalating threats to navigation security in the Red Sea.
