Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman received Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney at the Royal Court in Al Salam Palace in Jeddah this evening. Official reception ceremonies were held, followed by a formal meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Crown Prince welcomed the Canadian Prime Minister to the Kingdom, while the latter expressed his delight at the visit and meeting the Crown Prince.

A memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Industry in Canada regarding investment in artificial intelligence

During the meeting, aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries, areas of cooperation, and opportunities for their development across various sectors were reviewed, in addition to reviewing regional and international developments and efforts made regarding them.

The Crown Prince and the Canadian Prime Minister also witnessed the exchange of a number of bilateral memoranda of understanding, namely:

First: A memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Energy of the Kingdom and the Ministry of Natural Resources of Canada in the field of energy, exchanged on the Saudi side by Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, and on the Canadian side by Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand.

Second: A memorandum of understanding between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of Canada regarding the establishment of the Saudi-Canadian Coordination Council, which will serve as a platform for implementing the contents of the joint work document between the two countries, representing a roadmap for the next phase of Saudi-Canadian relations. It was exchanged on the Saudi side by Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and on the Canadian side by Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand.

Third: A memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Communications of the Kingdom and the Ministry of Industry of Canada regarding investment in artificial intelligence and skills development, exchanged on the Saudi side by the President of the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence, Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, and on the Canadian side by Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand.

Attending the meeting were Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Mecca Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, Minister of the National Guard Prince Abdullah bin Bandar, Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman, Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of State and Member of the Cabinet National Security Advisor Dr. Musaad bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Minister of Finance Mr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan (accompanying minister), and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Ambassador to Canada Amal bint Yahya Al-Moallemi.

On the Canadian side, attendees included Minister of Finance and National Revenue Mr. François-Philippe Champagne, Foreign Minister Ms. Anita Anand, Minister of National Defence Mr. David McGuinty, Canadian Ambassador to the Kingdom Jean-Philippe Linteau, Member of Parliament Mr. Sameer Zuberi, Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister Mark-André Blanchard, Advisor on Foreign and Defense Policy to the Privy Council Ms. Jennifer May, Chief Executive Officer of the Defence Investment Agency Mr. Doug Guzman, and the Prime Minister's Senior Advisor on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security Policy Mr. Scott Gilmore.

Following the talks, the Canadian Prime Minister affirmed during a press conference his country's keenness to strengthen economic partnerships with the Kingdom, noting that bilateral cooperation will see further expansion, especially in the mining sector.

It is noteworthy that the Canadian Prime Minister arrived in Jeddah yesterday for an official visit to the Kingdom, and was received upon his arrival at King Abdulaziz International Airport by the Deputy Governor of Mecca Region, Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, and a number of officials.
