Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting. The meeting discussed bilateral issues and developments related to recent US attacks on Iran.

The Pakistani foreign minister stressed the need to build on the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), noting that differences can only be resolved through sustained dialogue and that vigilance must be maintained against those seeking to undermine stability.

Pakistan seeks to keep channels of dialogue open between the United States and Iran, aiming to de-escalate the ongoing tensions between the two sides, after the failure of the MoU reached by the two parties to stabilize a truce between them.

In a separate context, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had announced in a post on his account on platform "X" that individuals involved in the US administration completely ignore reality and seem focused only on the 2028 elections.

Araghchi explained in his earlier post that "the blind aggression they advocate will only cost the president a heavy price for the deal he seeks to conclude."
