Palestinian Ministry of Culture Affirms Importance of Preserving Cultural Memory and Countering Attempts to Erase History

Doha, July 20 (QNA) - Palestinian Minister of Culture Imad Hamdan affirmed the importance of preserving the national memory, confronting attempts to erase history and usurp consciousness, and ensuring the honoring of creators who left their mark on the Palestinian cultural march.

This came today during the launch of events commemorating the centenary of the late poet Moin Bseiso, which will continue until next October, as part of a project to revive the memory of Palestinian cultural icons, aimed at preserving their legacy in Palestinian and Arab consciousness, in appreciation of their intellectual, cultural, political, and humanitarian contributions to the Palestinian cause.

In his speech, Hamdan highlighted Moin Bseiso, "who was not only a poet, but a man of thought and stance, a man of fields and squares, who played a prominent role in confronting projects to displace Palestinians during the 1950s, and paid the price for his national positions through his arrest, and contributed to unified national media work, publishing his poems in the newspaper 'Palestine Al-Thawra', and remained present in various fields of national struggle."

He pointed out that the late poet left a rich literary and cultural legacy, represented in poetry collections, including 'Al-Musafir' and 'Al-Ma'raka', in addition to his works in poetic theater, most notably 'Ma'asat Jifara', 'Thawrat al-Zanj', 'Shamshun wa Dalila', 'Muhakamat Kitab Kalila wa Dimna', and others.
