Moscow, July 23, 2026, SPA
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova affirmed that her country calls for resolving conflicts in the Middle East region through political and diplomatic means, and urged all parties to exercise restraint and avoid steps that could lead to a widening of the confrontation.
Zakharova said in a statement today that Russia continues to call for addressing differences in this strategically important region through dialogue and diplomatic solutions, taking into account the interests of all countries in the region.
She added that Moscow calls on the parties to the conflict to adopt a responsible approach and refrain from actions that could contribute to the expansion of the armed conflict and further deterioration of the military and political situation in the Middle East.
She pointed out that the current developments pose additional challenges to regional mediation efforts aimed at restoring the negotiation track, based on the Islamabad memorandum signed between the United States and Iran on June 17 last.
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson warned of the potential repercussions of escalation on energy security, noting that the continued deterioration of the situation in the Middle East could have serious implications for food and energy security at the regional and international levels.
