Saudi Tourist Drowns in Trabzon, Turkey; Brother Survives After Rescue Attempt
جرفت المياه سائحًا سعوديًا أثناء التقاطه صورة في منطقة أوزونغول بطرابزون، ما أدى إلى وفاته، بينما أنقذ الأتراك شقيقه الذي حاول إنقاذه.
A Saudi tourist drowned in a mountain stream in the Trabzon region of northern Turkey after being swept away by the water while trying to take a souvenir photo. His younger brother survived after jumping into the water in an attempt to save him.
Turkish media reported that the incident occurred in the Uzungöl area of Trabzon province when Saudi citizen Abdulaziz Al-Harbi (39 years old) went down to a stream to take a photo, then lost his balance and was swept away by the strong current.
It added that his brother Omar Al-Harbi (23 years old) rushed into the water to rescue him, but the force of the current swept both of them a long distance before several Turkish citizens were able to rescue the younger brother, while they could not reach the older brother, who died.
Reports stated that emergency teams rushed to the scene, recovered the victim, and transported his brother to receive necessary care, while authorities launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
The Uzungöl area is one of the most famous tourist destinations visited by thousands of Gulf tourists annually. However, the surrounding mountain streams and rivers can have strong currents, especially in summer due to snowmelt in the highlands, making approaching or entering waterways extremely dangerous.
