Sharjah Agriculture and Livestock Department Head: Maliha Dairy Farm Production to Start with 75 Tons of Milk Daily
Sharjah, April 29 /WAM/ His Excellency Dr. Engineer Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, Head of the Agriculture and Livestock Department in Sharjah, confirmed that the first phase of the Maliha Dairy Farm, inaugurated today by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, is the first of its kind in the Middle East, noting that its production of milk and dairy products is entirely organic.
He pointed out that during this phase, 75 tons of milk will be produced daily, reaching a production capacity of up to 310 tons of milk per day over the next three years upon project completion.
His Excellency said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM): "His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah paid great attention to the nucleus of the herd, as a pure breed 'A2A2' was imported, which is the ancient breed of cows that has not undergone any genetic hybridization, and its number in this phase is 1,250 heads." He indicated that His Highness directed to immediately double the herd size without waiting for natural reproduction, and accordingly, an additional 1,250 heads will be imported by the end of this year, thus reducing the time to increase the herd from 5 years to 3 years, with the total number then reaching 5,000 livestock heads.
Maliha Dairy Farm milk is distinguished by its rich protein with high quality and high fat content compared to other types, as it contains a fat content of over 4% and a protein content of 3.5%. It is considered one of the finest types of milk that will reach consumers in its natural form without any intervention or reduction of its components, and it is also easy to digest and reduces intestinal disorders.
