Trump: Agreement to end war with Iran possible

US President Donald Trump affirmed that reaching an agreement to end the war with Iran remains possible, expressing his belief that a settlement ending the conflict could be reached.

Trump said in press remarks at the White House: "I believe reaching an agreement is possible."

The US president's remarks come alongside the announcement by US Central Command (CENTCOM) of the start of a third wave of military strikes against Iran, in implementation of President Trump's directives.

CENTCOM explained in a statement that the strikes aim to continue undermining Iranian capabilities that threaten civilian sailors and commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, as part of ongoing US military operations in the region.
