(CNN)-- US President Donald Trump warned Monday that Iran will face a response and pay a 'multiplied price' if it kills US soldiers, following the deaths of 3 US military personnel in the region in recent days.
Trump wrote on his Truth Social account: 'Every time Iran kills a US soldier, they will pay a multiplied price for it.'
He added that he had communicated his instructions to senior military leaders. He wrote: 'This directive has been referred to Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Daniel Kane, and all military commanders.'
The Pentagon confirmed the deaths of 3 US soldiers over the weekend, two of them at a military base in Jordan and one in northern Iraq.
The military continues to examine unidentified remains found at the site of the Jordan attack, indicating the possibility of a higher death toll.
