The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) revealed that at least two children were killed and six others, aged between 6 and 14, were injured, as well as four adults killed and more than 20 wounded, in a drone attack on a market in the town of Rahad in North Kordofan state, western Sudan.
UNICEF Representative in Sudan Sheldon Yett said in a statement: "Reports indicate that the attack serves as a stark reminder of the staggering toll the conflict continues to exact on children across Sudan," noting that markets must never become sites of death and destruction. He stressed that the killing or injury of any child is unacceptable, calling on all parties to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure and to allow humanitarian access to children and communities in need.
