(CNN)--The US Army announced Sunday morning that it had completed another round of strikes on Iran for the eighth consecutive night, which it said targeted Iranian military coastal surveillance and air defense facilities, naval capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a post on its official account on platform 'X', formerly Twitter, that it had completed another round of strikes against Iran on July 18 at 11:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, under the direction of the commander-in-chief.

The command added: 'During the eighth consecutive night of US strikes, CENTCOM forces successfully targeted Iranian military coastal surveillance and air defense facilities, naval capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites, as part of ongoing efforts to undermine Iranian military capabilities. US military assets also targeted forces affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that had launched attacks against US military personnel in Jordan on July 17.'

US Central Command clarified that 'more than 50,000 US military personnel are deployed across the Middle East, continuing their missions with utmost vigilance, focus, and high combat readiness.'

US Central Command had announced on Saturday the deaths of two US soldiers and the loss of another, marking the first casualties among US military ranks from Iranian fire since March.

The official Iranian news agency (IRNA) reported, quoting local residents, hearing explosions in the city of Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island at dawn Sunday local time.
