The death toll in Venezuela has risen to 4,118 from the earthquake that struck the country on June 24.

This was announced by Venezuelan National Assembly President Jorge Rodríguez in a statement posted on the American company X platform on Friday evening, regarding the latest developments of the disaster that hit the country.

Rodríguez explained that the number of victims rose to 4,118 dead, while the number of injured reached 16,740 people.

On the other hand, interim President of Venezuela Delcy Rodríguez conducted a field tour to inspect infrastructure repair works in the Macuto area of La Guaira state, which suffered the greatest human and material losses from the earthquake.

The latest earthquake toll announced by Venezuelan authorities on Thursday evening was 3,899 dead.

On June 24, a twin earthquake struck Venezuela, the first measuring 7.2 and the second 7.5 on the Richter scale.

On June 26, the United Nations Development Program announced that the cost of direct material damage is estimated at about $6.7 billion.

Search and rescue operations continue in the country amid fears of further increases in the death and injury tolls.
