Caracas, July 17 (QNA) - Jorge Rodriguez, President of the National Assembly of Venezuela, said today that the death toll from the two consecutive earthquakes that shook the country last month has risen to 4,930. He added that the number of injured from the earthquakes that occurred on June 24 remained unchanged at 16,740, while 17,907 people remain homeless. The previous count had indicated 4,490 deaths. Two earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 struck 39 seconds apart, particularly affecting northern Venezuela. It is worth noting that authorities in Caracas had listed thousands of people as missing due to the collapse of entire high-rise residential complexes, which turned into rubble in seconds.
