The President of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Jorge Rodríguez, announced that the death toll from the two earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24 has risen to 5,119, while the number of injured reached 16,740.

Rodríguez explained in a statement that the death toll increased by 50 in the past 24 hours, while the number of survivors rescued remained at 6,462.

In the same context, Venezuela was hit by two consecutive earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale, about 40 seconds apart, causing widespread destruction and heavy human losses.

It is noteworthy that Venezuelan authorities declared a state of emergency after the disaster, while countries and international organizations sent rescue teams and humanitarian aid to support relief efforts in affected areas.
