Washington: No Deal Without Handover of Enriched Iranian Uranium
Sunday, July 12, 2026
Washington - Agencies:
A senior US official announced that the United States considers obtaining the highly enriched Iranian uranium located beneath the facilities that were bombed as a fundamental condition for reaching any agreement with Tehran, stressing that Washington has 'low-cost military options' if it refuses to comply.
The official affirmed that what he described as 'nuclear dust' remains the core issue in negotiations, referring to the highly enriched nuclear material believed to still be buried within the sites targeted by US strikes.
He said: 'Either Iran hands over this nuclear dust to us, or we have military options that ensure it remains buried underground forever.'
He stressed that the nuclear material is the essence of any potential agreement with Iran, affirming that the United States holds the cards of power, whether through military, diplomatic, or economic pressures.
