Kuwait: Fire at power and water distillation plant due to Iranian attack
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said on Saturday that one of its power and water distillation plants was subjected to a hostile attack amid the Iranian aggression on the country.
The ministry added in a statement that the attack led to a fire, noting that a number of generating units were disconnected as a precaution to maintain the safety of the plant and the stability of the grid.
The ministry confirmed the activation of emergency plans and the continuation of firefighting and repair operations, calling for rationalizing electricity consumption, especially between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Earlier on Friday, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity announced that a power and water distillation plant had been subjected to an Iranian attack, resulting in damage to the plant's facilities and a fire, and affecting a large number of electric power generation units.
It added in a statement that the damage necessitated the activation of emergency plans and immediate handling of the incident to mitigate its effects and maintain the stability of the electrical system.
It stated that firefighting teams immediately dealt with the incident and managed to contain and extinguish the fire, while technical teams and emergency teams from the ministry, in coordination with relevant authorities, began implementing necessary technical and precautionary measures to assess the damage, secure the plant, and work to return the affected units to service as soon as possible while adhering to safety standards.
