Cybersecurity and digital data protection company Kaspersky has warned of fraudulent schemes through fake air conditioner offers aimed at stealing payment information and personal data, according to a statement obtained by Al-Eqtisadiah.

Kaspersky said that hackers are impersonating well-known brands to lure consumers with offers of huge discounts on fans and various air conditioning units.

The scammers distribute these offers through fake websites and emails, which include real product images and customer reviews that appear genuine.

The fake discounts are only valid for a limited time to rush buyers into entering payment information and personal data without thinking, allowing scammers to steal bank card details for later fraudulent transactions.

According to Kaspersky, scammers create websites similar to well-known retail stores, with these fake pages mimicking the original store's design and using real products as the basis for the offer.

Scammers advertise limited-time discounts, claim limited product quantities, also display the number of visitors viewing the product at that moment, or set a specific time period for purchase.

Olga Altukhova, a cybersecurity expert at Kaspersky, said: "To avoid being deceived by such fraudulent schemes, you should take your time and verify everything, especially the website address and design. If you doubt a website's authenticity, search for it on a search engine to check its legitimacy, or use a security solution to scan it."

Kaspersky also advised comparing the product description and images with the data on the manufacturer's official website.
