Riyad Bank's net profit rose 2% in the second quarter to 2.65 billion riyals, driven by growth in total operations income partially offset by an increase in total operating expenses, according to a disclosure on Tadawul on Monday.
Growth in total operations income was driven by an increase in net trading income, net special commission income, and dividend income.
This rise was partially offset by a decline in net fees and commission income, net gains on sale of investments not held for trading, other operating income, and net foreign exchange income.
The increase in total operating expenses was mainly due to higher depreciation of property, equipment, and right-of-use assets, net impairment allowance for investments, net impairment allowance for credit losses and other financial assets, and salaries and employee expenses.
This was partially offset by a decrease in other general and administrative expenses, other operating expenses, and rent and building expenses.
Riyad Bank, founded in 1957, provides all types of banking and investment services through its network of 334 branches inside and outside Saudi Arabia.
Its market value today is 87.3 billion riyals. The Public Investment Fund holds the largest stake of 21.8%, while the General Organization for Social Insurance holds a 10.4% stake.
