Spot gold rose 0.9% to $3,113.3 per ounce, hitting its highest level since July 10, while US gold futures for August delivery jumped 1.1% to $4,119.1.

The rise was supported by technical buying, amid widespread market anticipation ahead of the Federal Reserve's meeting next week, as investors look for clear signals on interest rate expectations.

Among other precious metals, spot silver rose 1.8% to $59.82 per ounce, platinum gained 1.6% to $1,655.61, and palladium increased 1.6% to $1,302.25.
