Gold stabilizes near two-week high

Gold prices stabilized today near their highest level in two weeks, after the US jobs report released last week, which came in lower than expected, led to a slight decline in expectations for the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates.

Spot gold stabilized at $4,175.02 per ounce, after recording weekly gains of more than 2% on Friday, following four consecutive weeks of declines.

US gold futures for August delivery rose 1.5% to $4,186.80 per ounce.

Among other precious metals, spot silver extended its gains for the fifth consecutive session, rising 0.1% to $62.4773 per ounce. Spot platinum rose 0.4% to $1,645.05 per ounce, and palladium increased 0.1% to $1,275.18 per ounce.
