Jeddah Islamic Port has announced the extension of storage fee exemption periods for transit goods to 60 days, effective July 19, 2026, as part of a package of facilitations aimed at improving supply chain efficiency and strengthening the position of Saudi ports in the international trade system.

The decision covers three main operational indicators: exemption for transit containers for 15 days, exemption for general transit cargo for 5 days, and a similar 5-day exemption period for goods arriving via Ro-Ro vessels and cars, giving beneficiaries greater flexibility in managing shipping, storage, and re-export operations.

Logistics sector experts believe that extending the exemption periods helps reduce operational costs for investors and shipping companies, and provides additional advantages for shipping lines to choose Jeddah Islamic Port as a main hub for transit goods, positively impacting handling rates and the efficiency of services provided.

Jeddah Islamic Port is the largest port in the Kingdom on the Red Sea and one of the most prominent hub centers for trade between East and West, receiving millions of tons of goods and containers annually, forming a key pillar for regional and international supply chain movements.

This step aligns with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, aimed at establishing the Kingdom as a global logistics hub connecting three continents, leveraging its distinguished geographical location and advanced port network that is undergoing continuous expansion in infrastructure and digital services.

Attention is turning to the expected impact of these incentives on transit traffic in the coming weeks, amid escalating regional competition to attract shipping lines and transit shipments.
