The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the United States of America signed on Tuesday in Washington a mutual trade agreement to enhance bilateral economic relations and facilitate the movement of goods.

The Jordanian side at the signing was represented by Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Engineer Yaroub Qudah, while the US side was represented by Minister Jamieson Greer, the US Trade Representative.

The new agreement crowns consultations that lasted nearly a year to build on the 2001 free trade agreement, under which Washington commits to reducing mutual customs tariffs imposed on Jordanian goods to 10 percent, and granting the garment sector preferential access.
