"Roads Authority" Achieves 56.5% Local Content in Its Projects

Exceeded Annual Target

The General Authority for Roads exceeded the target percentage for local content in its projects for the year 2025, achieving a contribution of 56.5% in road projects, surpassing the set target of 52%.

This achievement confirms the effectiveness of the approach adopted by the Authority in enhancing local content and supporting the national economy, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. The Roads Authority explained that the positive impact of its excellence in local content is not limited to improving the quality of road infrastructure, but extends to achieving a tangible impact on the GDP by developing policies and regulations aimed at enhancing local content in road sector projects.

The Authority confirmed that the Saudi Road Code contributes to enabling local content within sector projects by setting annual targets for each project commensurate with its nature and size, in addition to including standards and requirements that support the development of the national industry and raise the quality of implementation. It is noteworthy that the Authority won first place in the fourth edition of the Local Content Award for the year 2025, with a rating of 100%, within the medium and low-spending government entities category, for its excellence in developing initiatives to enhance and develop local content in the sector, while creating opportunities for localizing industry and transferring knowledge in the road sector. The Authority is currently working to achieve a higher local content target of 70% by 2030, implementing the Cabinet decision to raise this percentage within the Roads Program emanating from the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, reflecting the close integration between the sector's goals and national localization programs to enhance local content.
