Russia considers taking further measures to support domestic fuel market

Informed sources said that the Russian government is currently studying a new package of measures aimed at providing fuel in the domestic market, including providing government support to diesel importers to meet domestic needs.

The Russian TV channel RBC quoted two sources in the Russian fuel sector as saying that the discussion of supporting importers comes after Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an amendment to the tax law last Saturday allowing budget support to gasoline importers.

As part of measures to address fuel supply shortages due to Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries, Moscow announced last Wednesday a full ban on diesel exports. The ban was announced by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak during a TV interview alongside President Putin, where he said the decision aims to ensure increased supplies in the domestic market.
