After more than 3 years.. Mohamed Ramadan returns to drama through 'Khalifa Azrael'
Egyptian actor Mohamed Ramadan has embarked on a long journey in search of an exciting dramatic story to return to his audience after an absence of more than three years. His last drama was the series 'Jaafar Al-Omda,' which aired in 2023, after which he disappeared from the eyes of his fans without justified reasons.
It seems Ramadan has found what he was looking for during this period. He has started preparing a new series, which he wrote himself and tentatively titled 'Khalifa Azrael.' The series promises excitement, suspense, and intense events that compel the audience to follow each episode scene by scene.

He embodies the character of 'Ashmawi'
In this context, a source close to the artist told Al-Arabiya.net that Ramadan was keen to make his return to television drama very strong. Therefore, he kept searching for an exciting and interesting story about a new world that the audience wants to know and get close to. He chose the series to revolve around the character of a prison executioner nicknamed 'Ashmawi.'
The source added that Ramadan wrote the series' story himself. It centers on a young prison guard working in one of Egypt's prisons who is chosen to be the one who carries out death sentences on criminals and felons. The work reveals the other side of this man's character, shedding light on his private life, daily interactions, his family and children, and how he deals with his neighbors, relatives, and people he meets on the street.
Disagreement with Ahmed Mourad
He also explained that the work also sheds light on death row inmates, their daily lives, and the feeling of remorse that consumes their minds every moment they await death. Therefore, the series required a special kind of writer who excels at writing artistic works relying on psychological factors and building complex dramatic characters. The initial choice fell on screenwriter Ahmed Mourad, who actually started writing the dramatic treatment for the series but apologized after a few days.

He explained that a difference of opinion between Ramadan and Mourad was the reason for the latter's apology for writing the series. Then Ramadan and director Peter Mimi began a new search for a writer to write the episodes, until they chose screenwriter Mohamed Ismail Amin, who will start writing the first episodes in the coming days.
As for the stars participating in the work, the director is still holding working sessions with Ramadan to select the cast. The initial selection fell on actor Hatem Salah and actress Ghada Abdel Razek, but they have not yet officially signed on to star in the series.
It is worth noting that Mohamed Ramadan's last drama was the series 'Jaafar Al-Omda,' which aired during Ramadan 2023 and achieved great success. The cast was planning a second part, but the project was halted due to lack of enthusiasm from writer and director Mohamed Sami.
The series starred Iman El-Assi, Hala Sedki, May Kassab, Ahmed Dash, Ahmed Fahim, and Zina.
