Egyptian artist Ahmed Jalal Abdel Qawi died after battling illness at the age of 42, according to an announcement by his brother Mohamed on his personal Facebook page today.

The late artist had announced that he was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in the diaphragm and underwent a period of treatment and medical follow-up.

The last post published by the late artist Ahmed Jalal Abdel Qawi on his official Facebook account days before his death sparked controversy and sadness among his followers, as he posted a brief message in which he only wrote the phrase: "A matter of time," without revealing any details.

The late actor began his short artistic career at the age of 13, when he participated in the series "Hayat Al-Johary" in 1997 starring actress Yousra, and later participated in the series "Hadith Al-Sabah wa Al-Masa" in 2001 and "Al-Layl wa Akhereh" in 2003.

Ahmed Jalal Abdel Qawi achieved great fame during his participation in the famous series "Khodra al-Muttaham Abi" in 2005 alongside the late great actor Nour El-Sherif.

Abdel Qawi explained in a television interview two years ago the reason for the stalling of his career after the great fame he achieved: "laziness, postponement, and arrogance," in addition to his suffering from addiction to narcotic drugs for a period.

At the time, he explained that he underwent surgery on his back, replacing three vertebrae, and during his treatment he took strong painkillers that led him to drug addiction afterward.

The late actor also participated in the film "Hassan wa Morqos" in 2008, and a limited number of series, and presented his last role in the joint Arab series "Sane' al-Ahlam" in 2019.

It is worth noting that Ahmed Jalal Abdel Qawi is the son of Egyptian writer and screenwriter Mohamed Jalal Abdel Qawi. He was born in Cairo in 1984 and graduated from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts before starting his artistic career at an early age.
