The University Medical City at King Saud University has achieved a new milestone, cementing its academic, research, and medical standing, after a distinguished presence in the 2026 SCImago Institutions Rankings, topping several medical specialties at the national level and achieving advanced ranks regionally and globally, reflecting the quality of its research output and the excellence of its healthcare and education services.

The medical city ranked first nationally in the specialty of otorhinolaryngology, second in the Arab world, and eighth in the Middle East. For the first time, it achieved first place in the Kingdom and the Arab world in psychology, while ranking second in the Middle East, an achievement that reflects the qualitative development in this field. In pediatrics, perinatology, and child health, the medical city ranked third nationally, eighth in the Arab world, and nineteenth in the Middle East. In surgery, it ranked third nationally, tenth in the Arab world, and twenty-first in the Middle East. In ophthalmology, it ranked third nationally, moving up to sixth in the Arab world and nineteenth in the Middle East.

The medical city recorded a new achievement by entering the dentistry ranking for the first time, ranking sixth nationally, eighth in the Arab world, and twelfth in the Middle East. In other classifications, the medical city ranked second nationally in cardiology, gastroenterology, agricultural and biological sciences, and environmental sciences, and achieved second place in the Arab world in these specialties. It also ranked third in the Middle East in agricultural and biological sciences and environmental sciences, eleventh in cardiology, and twelfth in gastroenterology. This achievement reflects the advanced position the University Medical City at King Saud University has reached at national, regional, and international levels, and confirms the success of its strategy in supporting scientific research, clinical excellence, innovation, and developing medical competencies, contributing to enhancing the Kingdom's global competitiveness and achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in the health and education sectors.
