Lack of sleep increases weight and raises risk of diabetes
The Qassim Health Cluster reviewed the health harms associated with lack of sleep, emphasizing that its effects go beyond feelings of fatigue and exhaustion to more serious health risks.
It said on platform X that not getting enough and regular sleep is linked to weight gain and high blood pressure, as well as its negative impact on mental state and causing mood disorders.
It added that lack of sleep increases the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes, which requires attention to sleep quality and regularity as a fundamental pillar of daily healthy habits.
It also stressed the importance of ensuring adequate and regular sleep due to its pivotal role in supporting physical and mental health, and reducing health risks associated with sleep disorders.
