Al-Jazeera - SPA:

The medical services of the Ministry of Interior achieved a new medical milestone by performing the first kidney transplant at the Security Forces Hospital in Riyadh, as part of the organ transplant program launched by the hospital. This step reflects the development of specialized care services and enhances their capabilities in providing precise and advanced treatments according to the highest medical standards.

The operation was successfully performed on a 32-year-old beneficiary who was suffering from kidney failure. His 35-year-old sister donated one of her kidneys after completing precise medical examinations and ensuring compatibility with the necessary medical conditions for donation. The operation was carried out by a multidisciplinary medical and surgical team and, praise be to God, was successful. Both the donor and the beneficiary are in stable health and receiving the necessary medical care.

This achievement represents a qualitative milestone in the journey of the Ministry of Interior's medical services and embodies the readiness of the Security Forces Hospital in Riyadh to perform organ transplant operations according to an integrated system that includes qualified medical staff, advanced technical equipment, and supportive clinical infrastructure. This contributes to expanding the scope of specialized services and reducing the need to refer patients to other centers.

The launch of the kidney transplant program comes as an extension of the efforts of the Ministry of Interior's medical services to develop specialized and precision medicine programs, improve the quality of healthcare, and enhance the efficiency of therapeutic services provided to beneficiaries. This aligns with the goals of the Health Sector Transformation Program emanating from Saudi Vision 2030 and confirms the status of the Security Forces Hospital in Riyadh as one of the reference medical centers capable of performing complex operations and providing advanced healthcare according to the best global practices.
