The Infrastructure Projects Center in the Riyadh Region has announced the imminent implementation of mandatory technical accreditation for infrastructure project executors, with 180 days remaining until the requirement takes effect on January 1, 2027. Only establishments that have obtained technical accreditation from the Center will be permitted to carry out infrastructure project work in the Riyadh region.

This measure is part of the Center's efforts to develop the infrastructure project execution system, enhance sector efficiency, and strengthen adherence to quality, safety, and environmental standards, thereby improving execution quality, reducing operational risks, and promoting the sustainability of assets and services provided to the region's residents.

The Center explained that technical accreditation aims to enhance the reliability of infrastructure project execution by applying uniform standards to assess the capabilities of executing establishments, ensuring that their technical and operational capacities align with the nature and scale of projects, and meeting the minimum requirements for competence, technical expertise, and financial solvency necessary to carry out work according to approved standards.

The Center indicated that the technical accreditation evaluation is based on three main axes: technical and operational capabilities (55%), financial stability (25%), and professional experience record (20%), ensuring an objective assessment that reflects the readiness and efficiency of executing establishments to undertake infrastructure projects in line with best practices.

The Center affirmed that technical accreditation represents a qualitative step towards raising the efficiency of the infrastructure project execution sector by enabling qualified establishments and enhancing execution quality, thereby reducing risks, raising the level of compliance with technical standards, supporting infrastructure development targets, and serving quality of life in the region.
