Yesterday, the Municipality of Jeddah Province sent notifications to the owners of dilapidated shops and buildings at risk of collapse near Al-Quwazin Market, in preparation for completing legal procedures and carrying out demolition works, as part of its efforts to protect lives and property and address sites that pose a threat to public safety.

The head of the Southern Sub-Municipality, Ibrahim Al-Sulami, explained that the notifications granted the owners a legal grace period of two months from the date of receipt before starting demolition works, and that owners of adjacent buildings were also notified of the procedures planned for the site.

He stated that the municipality inspected the sites, and the inspection results showed that their structural condition was unsafe, and that leaving them as they are poses a risk to public safety, necessitating their inclusion among the sites scheduled for demolition.

The Municipality of Jeddah Province affirmed its continued monitoring of dilapidated buildings and sites and addressing them according to approved legal procedures, contributing to preserving lives and property and improving the urban landscape.
