The Eastern Province Municipality conducted more than 4,400 field visits during the first half of this year to monitor markets and service activities, resulting in the detection of 921 violating establishments, while 2,491 establishments complied with the regulations.

These efforts are part of a system targeting public benefit markets and commercial centers to protect consumer health, with a total of 1,059 inspection tours supported by 65 joint campaigns with relevant authorities.

Faisal Al-Zahrani, Director General of the General Administration of Media and official spokesperson for the Eastern Province Municipality, explained that the campaigns revealed varying levels of compliance, noting that inspection programs are ongoing to improve the commercial environment and raise the level of regulatory compliance. Al-Zahrani mentioned that field teams conducted 120 visits to mosques and commercial complexes to detect violations, resulting in 39 violating establishments, with violations mainly involving handling expired food products.

The inspection campaigns included Hajj and Umrah offices in the Dammam metropolitan area and Qatif governorate, with 1,300 visits, resulting in the detection of 70 establishments operating without proper licenses or with violations in commercial signage. The spokesperson stated that 328 field visits were made to scrap yards and salvage areas, detecting 230 establishments lacking proper licenses or contracts, emphasizing that the municipality continues its inspection plans to enhance the safety of the commercial environment in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
